Parker’s Heritage Collection 13th Edition Heavy Char Rye Whiskey is Heaven Hill’s first rye in the Parker’s series: seventy-five Level 5 barrels, charred ninety seconds, aged eight years and nine months on the seventh floor of Rickhouse Y. The mash is the house rye — 51 percent rye, 35 percent corn, 14 percent malted barley — and the deeper char pushes chocolate and woodsmoke around the grain. Bottled at 105 proof without chill filtration, with a share of proceeds for ALS research. It belongs in a spirit-forward cocktail.
Chocolate and smoke open the glass, then honey, black pepper, clove, and cinnamon take the sip. Berry and dark cherry sit underneath the spice. The texture is creamy and full; the finish is long and warm, fading to mocha and toasted nuts.
