Parker’s Heritage Collection 17th Edition 10 Year Old Cask Strength Rye Whiskey is Heaven Hill’s 2023 limited bottling: 142 barrels of 10-year Kentucky rye, filled in 2012 and pulled from several Bardstown and Deatsville rickhouse floors so the blend carries both lower-floor depth and higher-floor spice. The mash is 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley, bottled uncut and non-chill filtered at 128.8 proof. A portion of proceeds goes to the ALS Association in honor of Parker Beam. Open it in cold weather.
Black cherry and honey lead, with cinnamon, clove, and a chocolate-syrup richness that makes the rye feel older than its ten years. Vanilla and poached pear sit in the middle of a creamy, coating sip. The finish is long and spicy — rye spice, peppercorn, and cherry — with heat that warms rather than scalds.
