Extra-aged Kentucky bourbon rarely holds its shape this well. Seventeen years is a long stretch in the barrel, and the finish in XXO Cognac casks arrives as a second act rather than a correction, turning oak-driven weight toward something rounder and darker.
Dried fruit sits at the center, with caramelized nectarine giving it a warm, sugared edge. Underneath, there is creamed corn and a green thread of herbs that keeps the sweetness honest. Clove sharpens the back end, and the caramel and baking spice linger well past the swallow. At 111 proof it drinks with real density, coating rather than burning, and a few minutes open in the room draws the fruit further forward.
Bottled at 55.5% ABV in 750 mL, with the bourbon distilled in 2022. Bottles of this age and finish move quickly, so it may not be on the shelf long.
