Rare Perfection 15 Year Old Canadian Whisky is a four-grain, bourbon-style mash — corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley — distilled in Canada and left fifteen years in a cold warehouse in American and French oak, then bottled unfiltered at cask strength, 119.7 proof, by Preservation Distillery. Slow northern aging keeps the whiskey round instead of tannic, which is why this limited dessert-bomb pour still drinks smooth at nearly 120 proof. Save it for cold weather.
Caramel, butterscotch, and toasted almond stand out on the palate, with brown sugar, crème brûlée, and toasted oak behind them. The mouthfeel is viscous and buttery; vanilla and roasted nuts hang on a long, sweet finish that barely shows the proof.
