Royal Brackla 12 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the King's Own whisky from the Cawdor Estate near Nairn: long 80-hour ferments and slow, tall stills for a perfumed, grassy spirit, then a first-fill oloroso finish, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). The sherry is why almonds and vine fruit ride over the malt. A weeknight pour.
Almonds, vine fruits, and malted grain lead, with apple, honey, and a little milk chocolate underneath. Nutmeg, pepper, and chocolate-coated almond stand out on the palate; the body is light and silky, and the finish is medium, dry, and gently spiced.
