RY3 Rum Cask Finish Cask Strength Rye Whiskey is Phenomenal Spirits' barrel-proof rye from Virginia Beach: three mashbills and three ages — MGP 95% rye, Alberta 100% rye, and a corn-forward light whiskey — finished in vintage rum casks and bottled at 124 proof (62% ABV). The three-whiskey blend is why spice, maple, and fruit share the sip; rum wood is why dark maple and clove linger instead of a dry rye-only close. Pour it over a large cube.
Rye spice and molasses open first, then dark maple and a cinnamon-caramel middle. Clove, black pepper, and toasted sugar stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is oily and coating, and the finish runs long on cinnamon, clove, and caramel.
