Sauza 150 Aniversario Extra Añejo Tequila
Extra añejo is the patient end of tequila, and this one earns the name with three years in American oak. Blue Weber agave from the Tequila Valley in Jalisco sits at the center of it, still recognizable under the wood: cooked agave, sweet and faintly earthy, the way it smells coming out of the oven.
Vanilla and caramel come from the barrel and settle into something soft rather than sugary. Underneath, dried fruit gives the palate weight, and baking spice keeps the finish from going flat. At 80 proof (40% ABV) it drinks easily, with the oak more of a frame than a statement.
Distilled in 2023 and bottled at 750 mL, this is a sipping tequila that does not demand ceremony. Neat in a small tumbler is all it needs, though it holds up well over a single large cube if you prefer it cold.
