Served neat, this rye drinks with dark molasses set against leather, giving the palate a contrast between sweetness and a drier, savory impression. The weight comes through in small sips, and the mature character remains present from the opening through the close. A slow pour keeps that contrast fully in view.
Made in Kentucky, this straight rye spent 18 years maturing in new charred American oak. It is bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) in a 750 mL bottle. The proof brings firmness to the palate without obscuring the darker flavors. Though availability is limited, the whiskey closes on vanilla before pepper takes over and lingers at the very end.
