Shibui 10 Year Old Pure Malt Japanese Whisky is a Niigata blend of malt whiskies aged at least ten years in American ex-bourbon and European oloroso sherry casks, then finished in Japanese Mizunara oak. One hundred percent malted barley, double copper-pot distilled, 86 proof, non-chill-filtered. The Mizunara finish is what turns coffee and dark chocolate toward incense-like spice. Pour it when you are sipping with friends.
Coffee, dark chocolate, and almond lead. Dates, pear chutney, caramel cookies, and a hint of ginger fill a thick, creamy sip. Spiced oak and lingering fruit close a long, balanced finish.
