SirDavis Sherry Cask Finish Rye Whisky is Beyoncé Knowles-Carter's American rye with Moët Hennessy and Dr. Bill Lumsden: a 51% rye / 49% malted barley mashbill distilled in Indiana, aged in new American oak, finished about six to nine months in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, then blended and bottled in Texas at 88 proof (44% ABV), non-chill filtered. The high malt bill is why the sip stays velvety; PX casks are why Seville orange and toffee ride with the rye spice. A weeknight pour.
Seville orange and Demerara toffee lead, with raisin, cinnamon, and clove behind them. Ginger, malt biscuit, and ripe cherry stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is buttery and silky, and the finish lingers on honey, sultanas, and rye spice.
