St. George Baller American Single Malt Whiskey is a Japanese-inspired California single malt from Alameda: 100% American barley distilled in eau-de-vie pot stills, aged at least four years in used bourbon and French oak wine casks, filtered through maple charcoal, then finished in house-made umeshu casks. At 94 proof, plum, lychee, and maple-charcoal smoke share the glass. Build a highball.
Malt sweetness and maple charcoal open onto a burst of plum, mango, and lychee. Nutty almond and bright fruit keep the sip crisp and dry. Smoke lingers and builds on a long finish that still wants another sip.
