Stagg Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 130 Proof is Buffalo Trace's allocated barrel-proof bourbon from Mash Bill #1, bottled as Batch 22B: about eight years in new charred American oak, uncut and unfiltered at 130 proof. Nothing is added to pull the proof down, so cherry cola, brown sugar, and chocolate come through at full barrel strength. Let it sit in the glass before the first sip.
Cherry cola and brown sugar lead, with chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla filling a thick, viscous sip. Dark fruit and molasses ride underneath. Clove, toasted oak, and a long, warm cherry-cola finish hang on well after the swallow.
