Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey is Dublin peat-smoked malt, named for the old malting houses behind the Newmarket distillery. Heavily peated barley is triple distilled so barbecue smoke shows, then matured in ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes casks, non-chill-filtered at 92 proof (46% ABV). Triple distillation is why grilled pineapple and honey sit beside the peat. A weeknight pour.
BBQ smoke, cloves, butterscotch, and orange peel open, then applewood smoke, stewed pear, and grilled pineapple. Honey, allspice, and salted caramel stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is full and unfiltered, and the finish runs savory on wood and smoke.
