The Macallan A Night on Earth in Scotland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the limited 2021 first edition of the Hogmanay gifting series, created by lead whisky maker Sarah Burgess from sherry-seasoned American and European oak plus American ex-bourbon barrels. Vanilla shortbread is the point of the recipe, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV), with artwork by Erica Dorn. Pour it when friends are in.
Butter-rich shortbread and vanilla lead, with baked apple, plum, and almond behind them. Toasted marshmallow, dried orange, fig, and cinnamon stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is soft and velvety, and the finish settles on butterscotch and freshly baked biscuit.
