The Macallan A Night on Earth – The Journey Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the 2023 limited New Year release, built from first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels with European and American sherry-seasoned oak. Chinese artist Nini Sum's packaging frames the whisky around steamed rice pudding, milk candy, and toasted-oak popcorn from a journey home. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV). A gathering pour when the house is full.
Toasted oak, steamed rice pudding, and coconut milk open, with citrus, vanilla, and oat biscuit behind them. Lemon, lime, vanilla sponge, and toasted coconut stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is creamy and bright, and the finish is medium, sweet toasted wood and vanilla.
