Speyside single malts tend toward the bright and fruity end of Scotch, and Edition No. 3 sits comfortably there. The whisky was matured in sherry-seasoned American and European oak, a combination that gives it both the softer vanilla sweetness of the American wood and the deeper spice that European oak brings.
Vanilla and honey lead, with citrus cutting through before things get too sweet. Ginger adds a light warmth underneath, and there's a floral lift that keeps the whole thing easy to drink. Polished oak sits at the back, more structure than flavor. At 96.6 proof it has a bit more weight than a standard bottling, though nothing that needs taming.
This is the 2017 release, in a 750 mL bottle. A straightforward Speyside malt for regular drinking rather than special occasions, and it holds up neat without any fuss.
