The Macallan Litha Single Malt Scotch Whisky takes its name from the Celtic summer solstice — light, a first meeting of two forces. Speyside new-make goes into first-fill sherry-seasoned oak from Jerez de la Frontera only, so the casks lay vanilla, tropical fruit, and berry rather than a slow raisin build. A limited 2023 release, first poured in China and at the Estate bar. Bottled at 80 proof. Reach for it on a long summer evening.
Vanilla and butterscotch open with a spark of citrus and tropical fruit. Berry compote and chocolate fill a creamy sip, with salted caramel and pecan standing out on the palate. Wood spice and sweet oak hang on a medium finish.
