The Senator 6 Year Old Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey
The Senator 6 Year Old Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey
The Senator 6 Year Old Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey is Proof and Wood's DC Collection rye, distilled in Indiana from a 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley mash and married from 10 to 20 barrels after at least six years in new charred oak. Bottled at barrel proof so the rye spice stays loud, with the nutty toffee and orange peel that earned it 89 points from Whisky Advocate. It has the strength for a spirit-forward cocktail.
Toffee, orange peel, and herbs lead, then light tobacco, blackberry, and chocolate brownie stand out on the palate as a little water opens the sip. The mouthfeel is dry and full, with real heat. Ginger, white pepper, and tropical rye fruit linger on a long finish.
