Caramel comes through first, thick and warm, with vanilla close behind it. Underneath sits dark fruit, the kind that has softened rather than sweetened, and a thread of maple that ties the whole thing together. Toasted oak and baking spice gather at the close and hold there.
This is Tennessee whiskey in the fullest sense: filtered slowly through sugar-maple charcoal before six years in new American oak. That mellowing takes the rough edges off the grain without stripping the weight out of it, and the barrel does the rest.
Bottled at cask strength, 112 proof (56% ABV), so nothing has been diluted after the barrel. It drinks well neat if you like the heat, and a single large cube opens the maple and fruit without flattening the spice. The 750 mL bottle earns its place on a shelf you reach for often.
