This is a bourbon that trades force for depth. Twelve years in new charred American oak have pulled the wheated character into something soft and dark, and the barrel sits close to the whiskey without ever taking over.
Honey leads, thick and unhurried, with dark fruit underneath it — figs, stewed plum, a little raisin. Tobacco leaf and oak give the whiskey its frame, dry where the sweetness would otherwise run long. Vanilla and soft spice settle in at the close, warm rather than sharp. At 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV), the texture stays round and the finish holds without heat.
Bottles of Lot B reach shelves in small numbers, so the 750 mL is worth opening rather than shelving. Neat is the honest way to drink it; ice will dull the fruit more than it helps. A Kentucky bourbon that asks for attention and repays it.
