Westland Cask No. 726 American Single Malt Whiskey

This is a malt-forward American single malt from Washington, drawn from one barrel rather than blended across several. Roasted malt sets the tone, and it stays there — the kind of toasted grain character that reads closer to a dark loaf than to sweet cereal. Dark chocolate and coffee sit alongside it, bitter enough to keep the caramel underneath from turning syrupy.

Time in a specialty oak cask has left the whiskey with a firm edge. Citrus lifts the back end, and the oak arrives dry rather than sweet, which keeps the finish clean. At 92 proof (46% ABV) it has enough weight to drink neat without feeling heavy, and it holds up in a stirred cocktail if you want one.
