Whiskey JYPSI Explorer 6 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey blends two six-year bourbons: a sweeter low-rye from Kentucky and a spicier high-rye from Indiana, combined at 66% corn, 30% rye, and 4% malted barley. After proofing to 103, it is finished on French oak staves from the Forest of Tronçais and Appalachian American white oak, so tannin and spice ride the sweetness of the mash. Keep it as a weeknight pour.
Caramel and vanilla bean open, with leather and a forest note from the woods. Dark dried fruit, graham cracker, and cigar box stand out on the palate. The sip is full and structured; vanilla and oak linger dry on a long finish.
