Extra-aged bourbon and rye were brought together here, then set into rye casks to finish the job. That second stay in rye wood is what pulls the two halves into one whiskey rather than a marriage of parts, and the 8–13 year age range gives the blend both the sweetness of older bourbon and the spine of well-kept rye.
Caramel leads, soft and dark, with dried fruit sitting just behind it. Black pepper cuts through the sweetness before cinnamon warms it back up, and mature oak and vanilla stay through a long, dry close. At 105 proof (52.5% ABV) the texture is thick enough to coat without turning hot, which makes it as good over a single large cube as it is neat.
Distilled in 2022 in Kentucky and bottled at 750 mL, this is the kind of whiskey worth keeping within reach rather than saving for an anniversary.
