Woodford Reserve Distillery Series Toasted Oak Oat Grain Bourbon Whiskey is a limited 2022 Distillery Series bottle, typically sold at the Versailles gift shop and a handful of Kentucky retailers. Oats in the mash (about 66% corn, 18% oats, 12% malted barley, 4% rye) are why oatmeal cookie and raisin show up; a second, heavily toasted new barrel pulls cocoa and molasses without a heavy char. Bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV) in a 375 mL flask. Pour it on a cold night.
Cinnamon-raisin oatmeal cookie, cocoa, and molasses open, then clove, nutmeg, and citrus stand out on the palate in an oily sip. Dark chocolate rides through. The finish is dry and medium-long, with chocolate bitters and a last thread of orange peel.
