Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Five-Malt Stouted Mash Whiskey is the winter 2021 limited Kentucky straight malt whiskey, the 17th Master’s Collection. Chris Morris and Elizabeth McCall mashed distillers malt, wheat malt, pale chocolate malt, Carafa 1, and kiln coffee malt to echo stout-style distiller’s beer, then distilled it on Woodford’s Irish-style triple pot stills and aged it in new charred oak. Bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV). A weeknight pour when you want something roasted.
Roasted malt, milk chocolate, and toasted hazelnut lead, with orange zest and cherry cobbler behind them. Cocoa, baked fruit, and coffee stand out on the palate; the sip is malty and rich, and the finish lingers on malt, cocoa, and warm spice.
