Angel’s Envy Triple Oak Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Angel’s Envy Triple Oak is bottled at 92 proof, and the first new bottle in the distillery’s Signature Series in more than ten years. After it ages in new American oak, Master Distiller Owen Martin finishes separate lots in toasted French oak, Kentucky Chinkapin oak, and Hungarian oak, then blends them. Those extra barrels are the point: French oak leans baking spice and chocolate, Chinkapin brings caramel, vanilla, and coffee, and Hungarian oak pulls the three into one sip with a little extra brightness.

It opens on ripe apricot and honeysuckle, then vanilla custard, cinnamon, and a coffee-cocoa depth. The mouthfeel is medium and aromatic rather than heavy. It finishes on brown sugar and dry toasted oak — a brighter, more spiced Angel’s Envy that stands apart from the rest of the lineup.
