Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year Old spends twenty-three years in American and European oak, then up to six months in French cuvée casks — oak that held the still base wine before sparkling wine, not Champagne barrels. That wood is why brioche, candied lemon, and white grape show on a 23-year malt. It is bottled at 80 proof, Grand Series, not Gran Reserva 21 and not Grande Couronne 26. A bottle you can open for guests without overthinking the pour.
Apple blossom, freshly baked bread, and candied lemon open. Vanilla oak, sweet brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet, and white grape fill a soft, opulent palate. The finish is long and sweet, still pastry, still pear.
