Ardbeg An Oa is bottled at 93.2 proof after Pedro Ximénez, virgin charred oak, and ex-bourbon are married in a French oak Gathering Vat. The vat is why the smoke comes round instead of sharp. Named for the Mull of Oa that shelters the distillery — Ardbeg peat with toffee and cream instead of the 10’s citrus bite.
Creamy toffee, aniseed, treacle, dates, peach, and milk chocolate, then cigar smoke and brine. Smooth and syrupy, long and sweet-smoky.
