Bardstown Bourbon Company Château de Laubade Armagnac Cask Finish Bourbon Whiskey is the 2022 Collaborative Series with Château de Laubade in Gascony, bottled at 107 proof in about 2,700 cases. It blends Kentucky bourbon aged 12 years (75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley) with Tennessee bourbon aged 10 years (84% corn, 8% rye, 8% malted barley), then rests 16 months in Laubade Armagnac casks. Those Gascony barrels still hold the brandy, so baked pear, golden raisin, and cinnamon sit on vanilla and oak. The 2020 Laubade collaboration is a different whiskey: Indiana bourbon aged 12 years at 118.4 proof.
Bardstown tastes baked pear, nutmeg, cinnamon, sage, toffee, brown sugar, and almond, then vanilla bean, rich oak, and golden raisin. Breaking Bourbon found a creamy mouthfeel, peaches and cream, rye spice, and a finish of cinnamon syrup, brown sugar, and aged oak. The Whiskey Shelf adds candied ginger, citrus zest, and a bright, zesty close.
