Bardstown Bourbon Company Triple Blended Stave Finish Whiskey
Bardstown Bourbon Company Triple Blended Stave Finish Whiskey is a limited Distillery Collection bottle at 109 proof, sold at the distillery. The base is 35% Indiana whiskey aged 12 years (45% corn, 51% rye, 4% malted barley), 45% Kentucky bourbon aged 7 years (74% corn, 18% rye, 8% malted barley), and 20% Indiana rye aged 6 years (95% rye, 5% malted barley). That blend spent three weeks on three toasted oak staves, one plain oak, one spice-rack, and one sweet, plus a charred-barrel stave, then was married at 87% with 13% Tennessee whiskey aged 17 years. The sweet staves bring caramel and vanilla, the spice rack brings baking spice, and the charred oak darkens the fruit.
Drinkhacker found cigar wrapper, leather, clove, and dark cherry, a peppery entry with mint, then baking spice and a finish of seasoned oak, fruitcake, and grilled peach. Label notes add caramel, vanilla, ripe fruit, and chocolate over toasted oak. The texture is rich, and the oak stays in the finish.
