Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon Whiskey is distilled, aged, and bottled at Holladay Distillery in Weston, Missouri, at 100 proof. Soft red wheat replaces the rye in the house recipe: 73% corn, 15% wheat, and 12% malted barley. It goes into Missouri white oak and ages 6 years in iron-clad rickhouses on the distillery grounds. A bottled-in-bond wheated bourbon with a 6-year age statement is still uncommon, and at bond strength the soft red wheat shows a nutty grain note under oak and spice.
Apricot and stone fruit meet a vanilla-wafer sweetness. Toffee and charred oak sit on a semi-creamy mouthfeel. The finish dries into spice and black cherry.
