Compass Box Extinct Blends Quartet Scotch Whisky Collection
Compass Box Extinct Blends Quartet Scotch Whisky Collection is four limited blended Scotches, not one vatting. Ultramarine (2022, 51% ABV) reimagines a late-1980s deluxe blend with Caol Ila peat and Glendullan sherry. Delos (2022, 49%) rebuilds retired Asyla with older Glen Elgin, Imperial, Miltonduff, and grain. Metropolis (2023, 49%) turns Aberlour, Miltonduff, grain, and a thread of Bowmore toward honey and stone fruit. Celestial (2024, 50%) is the peatiest, built on Ardbeg and Caol Ila after Compass Box opened a 1960s bottle. James Saxon used some of the house’s rarest parcels for the set.
Ultramarine drinks of toffee, polished oak, roasted pecan, raisin, and smoke. Delos is pear, pineapple, vanilla cream, and chai. Metropolis brings honey, fudge, apricot, fig, and a hint of smoky wood. Celestial closes the set with coastal peat, ginger, vanilla, and grilled apple on a thick, mouth-coating finish.
