Compass Box Metropolis Blended Scotch Whisky
Compass Box Metropolis Blended Scotch Whisky is the third limited release in the Extinct Blends Quartet, bottled at 98 proof in a run of 5,910. James Saxon centred it on nutty, biscuity Aberlour from re-charred American oak and citrus-vanilla Miltonduff from first-fill bourbon, then folded in a blended-grain parcel, a sherry-matured blended Scotch parcel, and a little Bowmore for herbal smoke. Blended Scotch was made in Glasgow and Edinburgh vats for the cities that drank it; this bottle uses some of Compass Box’s oldest stocks to recover that rich, high-malt, honeycomb style. Natural colour, not chill-filtered.
Vanilla and honey open into fudge, apricot, pineapple, and fresh fig. Sultana and a thread of smoky wood ride a long, sweet, weighty finish. Grain fudge keeps it plush; Bowmore is woodsmoke, not a peat wall.
