This is a Scotch with an old-library character. Leather and old books give it a dark, tactile opening, with a dry, papery edge that keeps the richness in check. Tropical fruit adds brightness without disrupting the deeper tone.
Compass Box Vellichor brings together mature malt and grain whiskies from multiple regions, including long-aged parcels matured in ex-sherry butts. Its makeup spans more than one Scotch-making area. The 2022 release is offered in a 750 mL bottle and has limited availability.
At 89.2 proof (44.6% ABV), it has enough presence to carry the darker notes without muting the fruit. Delicate peat settles beneath the blend, leaving a fine earthy edge on the finish.
