Lee Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 90 Proof is Buffalo Trace's ongoing namesake single barrel, bottled at 90 proof from Mash Bill #2, the same higher-rye recipe as Blanton's. Barrels have long come from Warehouses I and K, the houses Elmer T. Lee favored, and the distillery still bottles to the standard he set after creating the first commercial single-barrel bourbon. This is the regular 90-proof Elmer T. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Apricot and honey open on vanilla and caramel. Clove and old leather sit underneath, with a light rye spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and medium. The finish is long and warm, oak and a last curl of fruit.
