Fox & Oden Straight Bourbon Whiskey is Coppercraft’s Holland, Michigan blend of 8- to 15-year Indiana bourbons from MGP, using both the 21% rye and 36% rye mash bills, bottled at 99 proof. Fifteen-year MGP is the reason to buy it: those older barrels are scarce, and folding them into the spicier 36% rye mash gives char and leather without dumping a young sourced bourbon. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Butterscotch, fig, and nutmeg open. Salted caramel turns to charred oak, leather, and baking spice with a thread of tobacco; the finish is warm and medium, with red fruit, orange zest, and dry oak from the older stock.
