Garrison Brothers Sonora 7 Year Old Rye Barrel Finished Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a limited Hill Country bottling from Hye, Texas: wheated bourbon aged four years in new American oak, then three more in rye whiskey barrels, bottled at 108 proof. About six thousand bottles were released in 2025, named for the Caverns of Sonora and sealed in ruby-red wax. The spice comes from those rye casks — thirty 53-gallon barrels that had already held rye for twelve years — after the spirit had started in smaller new-oak barrels under Texas heat. Master Distiller Donnis Todd guided Samantha Olvera on the project. Ready for a fireside pour or a stirred whiskey cocktail.

Sweet corn, vanilla, and butterscotch open, with citrus zest and wildflower honey keeping the oak from turning dusty. Black pepper and cinnamon show the rye barrels, then brown sugar and crème brûlée hold a long finish. It drinks rich and controlled at 108 proof: Texas oak in check, pie-crust sweetness in the middle, a late thread of anise and dry spice.
