Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask Reserve 19 Year Old is the Dufftown malt that spent all nineteen years in American bourbon casks — Glenfiddich's first whisky matured only in that wood, not finished in it. Unused bourbon barrels still hold vanilla and spice, which is why this limited Age of Discovery bottling drinks sweet oak and citrus instead of Madeira fig. It is bottled at 80 proof. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Crunchy toffee and deep citrus lead, like marmalade on toast, with vanilla pod, leather, and tobacco behind them. The mouthfeel turns velvety. Cardamom and nutmeg sit on a warm, long finish.
