Glenfiddich Grand Couronne 26 Year Old is twenty-six years in American and European oak, then at least two years in rare French Cognac casks — the only Glenfiddich with that Cognac finish, and the crown of the Grand Series. Grande Couronne means crown. Bottled at 87.6 proof, it is allocated luxury malt. Fits a cold-weather night as easily as an after-dinner dram.
Toasty oak and pastry lead — Tarte Tatin, buttery choux — then a velvety café crème with soft brown sugar. Orchard fruit and a hint of spice keep the sweetness in check. The finish is very long, sweet oak, still coffee-cream.
