Glenfiddich Grand Couronne 26 Year Old is twenty-six years in American and European oak, then at least two years in rare French Cognac casks — the only Glenfiddich with that Cognac finish, and the crown of the Grand Series. Grande Couronne means crown. Bottled at 87.6 proof, it is allocated luxury malt. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Toasty oak and pastry lead — Tarte Tatin, buttery choux — then a velvety café crème with soft brown sugar. Orchard fruit and a hint of spice keep the sweetness in check. The finish is very long, sweet oak, still coffee-cream.
