Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited 2023 Tale-series malt at 92 proof, Dr Bill Lumsden's first use of rare Japanese Mizunara oak, married with bourbon- and sherry-cask whisky. Mizunara is why incense, sandalwood, and pepper show up beside cherry and orange zest. It took Double Gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Give it a few rocks of ice.
The nose is herbal: toffee against incense, saddle-soap, resin, and cedar. A peppery sip brings tangy orange, bitter cherry, fennel, and chewy oak. The finish is long and nutty, with almond, mandarin, white pepper, and wood resin.
