Heaven Hill Heritage Collection 18 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 2024 Heritage Collection release: 133 barrels filled in December 2005, aged on the third floor of Rickhouse 1I, and bottled at 120 proof. The mash is Heaven Hill's traditional bourbon recipe — 78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye — left in new charred oak until black tea, toasted almond, and orange oil came up through the sweetness. One fill month and one warehouse floor are why this limited spring bottling drinks so tightly drawn. This is a bottle for sipping with friends.
Vanilla and caramel open, then old leather, oak char, and pepper. Dried flowers and black tea ride the nose. The mouthfeel is rich and tannic, with orange oil and baking chocolate on a long, warm, dry finish.
