Dried plum and raisin open this traditional molasses rum, followed by the deeper sweetness of dates. Distilled in 2006 in Saint-Pierre, Réunion, it spent 16 years in a tropically aged oak cask. The warm island climate gives the oak an active role in maturation, while the fruit notes remain clear and generous.
Dark chocolate brings a bittersweet edge before spice and oak shape the finish. Bottled from a single barrel at cask strength, its 114 proof (57% ABV) carries plenty of intensity. This additive-free rum comes in a 750 mL bottle and can be poured neat or over a large cube for a softer expression of its dried-fruit character.
