Jameson built this Irish whiskey around long maturation, drawing on stock aged at least 20 years in County Cork. Ripe berries lead, sweet and a little jammy, with fudge sitting just behind them and giving the whiskey real weight on the tongue. Banana bread runs through the center, soft and bakery-warm, while tangerine cuts across it and keeps the sweetness from settling.
Second-fill bourbon barrels and ruby Port pipes have done the shaping here, and the influence shows in the depth of color and the roundness of the texture rather than in any single sharp edge. Vanilla and baking spice trail the finish, fading slowly.
At 92 proof (46% ABV), it has enough strength to stay clear and expressive without needing to be tamed. This is a bottle for an unhurried evening, poured neat in a 750 mL that will last a good while.
