Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve Irish Whiskey is the Four Masters blend from Midleton: grain whiskey in the low twenties married to pot still, some of it aged entirely in ruby Port pipes commissioned from Quinta do Ventozelo, the rest in second-fill bourbon barrels. Stocks sit past twenty years. Bottled at 92 proof without chill-filtration, it drinks silky and dense — Port berry and tangerine folded into banana bread and fudge. Whisky Advocate scored the release 95. Save it for an after-dinner dram.
Ripe berries and melon open with banana bread and dark plum. The sip is lush: toasted wood, creamy fudge, dark chocolate, and tangerine, with cinnamon and nutmeg warming the edges. The finish is long, moving from fruit through spice back to barley.
