Kentucky Owl Batch No. 11 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a limited, allocated blend from master blender John Rhea: ten-to-fourteen-year bourbons married to six-to-nine-year whiskey, bottled at 118.8 proof so the char and rye spice stay loud. Each numbered batch is its own recipe; this one was built around mature oak and dark chocolate. Give it a large cube.
Bright citrus, dark chocolate, and sticky toffee open into mature oak, allspice, honeyed bread, and cinnamon. The finish runs toasted oak, sultana, peppercorn, and a soft apple linger. It drinks viscous and spicy at cask strength — caramel and chocolate first, then grain heat and wood through the close.
