Lagavulin The Ink of Legends 12 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the 2023 Special Release from Islay, Scotland: twelve-year malt finished in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks and bottled at cask strength, 112.8 proof (56.4% ABV). The tequila wood is why bright herbs, citrus, and juicy plum etch themselves into the peat. Limited Spirited Xchange bottling. Sit with a large cube and let the herbal smoke unfurl.
Medicinal peat and driftwood smoke meet sea air, citrus, and ripe plum. The palate is creamy and mouth-filling—sweet citrus, salt, then juicier plum and rising smoke; the finish is long, salty, drying, and very smoky.
