Lock Stock & Barrel 20 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey is 100% rye from Alberta Distillers, aged two decades in new charred American oak (char 3.5, no toast) in a cold climate so the extra years add date and toffee instead of only tannin. Robert Cooper selected the barrels; Cooper Spirits bottled the whiskey in the United States at 112 proof, in a small 2021 allocation. Pour it neat when you want a considered rye.
Toffee and spiced date cake lead, with dried apricot, clove, and cinnamon on a dense sip. Rye spice and black pepper cut the sweetness. The finish is long: butterscotch, honey, tobacco, and mature oak that dries without wiping the fruit away.
