Method and Madness Single Grain Irish Whiskey is Midleton’s experimental grain: 96% corn and 4% malted barley, matured in first-fill bourbon casks, then finished in virgin Spanish oak from Galicia, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV). The new Spanish oak is what you taste as pencil shavings, grapefruit, and zesty wood spice against the grain’s natural sweetness. Keep it for a weeknight glass.
New pencil shavings, rose petal, and pine open the glass. Fresh grapefruit peel and warm toasted oak fill a light, creamy sip, then clove, cinnamon, and a cooling mint finish. It drinks bright and tannic, with cereal sweetness underneath the wood spice.
