Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is a distillery single barrel filled at 103 proof into fire-charred new American white oak, then bottled at whatever strength that cask has reached rather than cut to a house number. The lower entry proof pulls more wood sugar and a fuller body than a hotter fill would. Limited quantities ship when barrels are ready. Pour it over a large cube.
Butterscotch and cinnamon lead, with cherry brightening the middle. Toasty vanilla and caramel coat the tongue; dry oak spice and rye pepper close the sip. The mouthfeel is chewy and warm, built for a slow neat pour once the cube has taken the edge off.
